on Glasgow's south side. The bride stands with her back to the camera, the full length of her veil falling down the lace of her gown, her groom holding her close in his kilt and dark jacket. Behind them, an ivy-wrapped wooden arch and soft greenery frame the moment against a clean pale wall. It looks simple. Simple is the hardest thing to get right.
this wasn't the first thing I saw. When I arrived at that spot, the obvious shot was staring right at me — and I've learned to distrust the obvious shot. So I took a moment. I looked around, worked the space, and found this instead: the bride turned away, the full length of her veil falling down the lace, her groom holding her close. Turning her back to the camera isn't a missed face — it's the frame that tells the real story, letting the veil and the gown do the talking. The light is soft and directional, wrapping around them without a harsh shadow in sight, and the ivy arch balances everything so your eye lands exactly where it should. None of that arrives in the first glance. It comes from slowing down and properly looking — the fine art side of my work, built on years in fashion and editorial photography before I ever shot a wedding. That patience is the craft couples are really booking when they choose me.
