Three generations caught in one big laugh on the dance floor — two friends and a mum, arms around each other, completely lost in the moment. This is the kind of frame I'm always hoping for at a reception: nobody posing, nobody aware of the camera, just pure joy between people who love each other.
Shot in the coloured party lighting at Cottiers in Glasgow, I worked in close and used the available light to keep it feeling real and full of atmosphere. The warmth on their faces is entirely their own.
Catching these unguarded connections is the heart of documentary wedding photography — you can't stage a laugh like this one. Cottiers was a venue I photographed for the first time, and its lively evening atmosphere gave me moments like this all night long.
If you're planning your own celebration here, I'd love to hear about it — get in touch to check your date. As a Glasgow wedding photographer covering Cottiers and venues across Scotland, I bring the same relaxed, natural approach to every couple.
