A guest spinning his friend under his arm on the dance floor, both mid-laugh, the party in full swing behind them. Evening receptions at a Scottish wedding have an energy all their own - kilts flying, everyone up dancing - and this frame catches that feeling in a single moment.
Shot in the theatre lighting at Cottiers in Glasgow, I moved with the dancing and worked with the coloured light spilling across the floor rather than fighting it. A little timing is everything with pictures like this - a half-second later and the moment's gone.
Capturing the fun and movement of the evening is just as important to me as the quiet moments earlier in the day; it's all part of telling the full story. Cottiers was a venue I photographed for the first time, and its atmosphere made the dance floor a joy to shoot.
If you're planning your celebration here, I'd love to hear about it — get in touch to check your date. As a Glasgow wedding photographer working across Scotland, I bring the same relaxed approach to every couple.
