The cake cutting at Cottiers in Glasgow — a beautiful naked sponge dressed with berries and thistles, the groom in his grey tweed and tartan, the two of them sharing a quiet smile over it. After the noise of the speeches, this was a lovely still moment between them.
I lit this simply to keep the couple clean and warm against the dark of the hall, and framed it to let the cake and the Highland dress tell the Scottish story of the day. It's a small, traditional moment, but one couples always want captured properly.
Photographing the details and set-pieces of a day with as much care as the candid moments is part of complete wedding coverage. Cottiers was a first-time venue for me, and bringing a fresh perspective to it is exactly how I like to work.
