The morning before the ceremony, at the bride's home in Troon — two bridesmaids in matching blue robes, hair and make-up done, a quiet toast before the day properly begins. There's a stillness to these moments that I love photographing: the nerves and the excitement sitting side by side, everyone just being themselves before the pace picks up.
This was shot in soft window light in the morning, the kind that wraps around faces gently and needs nothing added to it. I kept back and let the two of them share the moment, catching the glance and the ease between them rather than posing it.
Getting-ready photographs like this set the tone for the whole wedding story — the calm before Cottiers in Glasgow, where the celebration would carry on. Cottiers was another venue I photographed for the first time, bringing a fresh eye to a day that already had its own natural warmth.
